Notes:
Some have hypothesized that the spacing or density of children in a family has a negative effect on parental satisfaction. However, the Marini (1980) analysis, taken from a survey of students in ten Illinois high schools in 1957 -1958, and a 15 year follow-up survey, found that child spacing had no significant effect on either marital or parental satisfaction. Belsky (1990) too is quick to point out that any effects of number, spacing, or density of children on marriage are small and not great.
