It is also interesting to note that Marini (1980) found that the negative effect of having children of any age in the home was aggravated when male children were present. This seems to be the consensus from a variety of studies.
Belsky (1990) shows evidence from a number of studies that sons tend to be more active, fussy, and difficult to manage than young girls (Cameron, 1978; Maccoby, 1980; Moss,1967; Thomas& Chess, 1977). Boys are also more resistant to teaching and training effects of parents and more likely to make counter-demands than are young girls (Maccoby, 1980)
